Paul Gibson joins craxel to drive expansion into financial markets

Paul Gibson has joined Craxel, the data infrastructure company behind Black Forest™, to support its expansion into financial markets.

Based in London, Paul brings more than 30 years of experience selling complex technology into financial services, from startups to global enterprises. As Business Development Director at First Derivatives, he signed major strategic deals with banks, regulators, exchanges and brokers, built go-to-market strategies and mentored the EMEA sales team. He previously led EMEA sales at Lab49 and Digital Reasoning.

His domain expertise spans governance, risk and compliance, surveillance, financial crime, front office and treasury. These are the functions where financial institutions hold critical data across separate systems, and where the time it takes to connect that data carries a direct cost in risk and decision speed. Paul will work alongside Craxel’s teams in Belfast, UK and Fairfax, Virginia.

Black Forest is Craxel’s patented multi-modal decision platform, unifying graph, vector and time-series data in one architecture. In financial services, trading, risk, compliance and customer systems stay exactly where they are. Black Forest connects them in real time, with need-to-know enforced at every query. Its patented constant-time indexing holds query performance steady as data grows, proven at 100 billion records.

“Financial institutions already have the data they need. The problem is that it sits in systems that were never built to work together. Paul has spent his career with the banks, exchanges and regulators facing that problem, and he understands how they make decisions. That makes him the right person to take Black Forest into this market.”

Gary Connolly, Managing Director of Craxel

“What drew me to Craxel is the architecture. Most firms I’ve worked with assume that connecting risk, surveillance and trading data means another long integration project. Black Forest connects those systems where they already sit and keeps performance constant as volumes grow. That’s a conversation I’m looking forward to having with the market.”

About Craxel

Craxel is a data infrastructure company. Most databases slow down as data grows, forcing organisations to choose between scale and speed, or stitch together separate systems for graph, vector and time-series data. We built Black Forest™, a patented architecture that unifies all three data types in one system, with constant-time indexing that keeps performance the same whether you’re running one query or a million. Technology leaders in defence, financial services and cybersecurity use it to get answers fast, at any scale, without the integration overhead.
